Ben Hjertmann is a Chicago-based composer, performer, and genre vagabond. He serves as Artistic Director for The Sissy-Eared Mollycoddles in addition to performing as a vocalist with the group. Hjertmann’s recent work has been performed/commissioned by Borromeo Quartet, Northshore Concert Band, The Anubis Quartet, The Callithumpian Consort, The Other Minds Ensemble, The Northwestern University Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Chicago Composer’s Orchestra, The International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE), The Sissy-Eared Mollycoddles, The New York Miniaturist Ensemble, and The Chicago Miniaturist Ensemble. He also released both a Hip-Hop album in 2010 and an Indie-Folk album in 2011 under the pseudonym Kong Must Dead. He performs as a vocalist in the Indie-Jazz trio, The Grant Wallace Band whose music is inspired by outsider artists like its namesake. Check out www.hjertmann.com for more!
