The CCO teams up with the stunning Garfield Park Conservatory to create a musical experience amidst lush plantlife. Explore new possibilities in sound and space created by jazz composer Nicole Mitchell, Chicago-based sound artist Lou Mallozzi, and Chicago composers John Dorhauer, Francisco Castillo Trigueros, and Kyle Vegter.

The CCO delivers the Midwestern premiere of Gabriel Prokofiev’s new concerto for bass drum and orchestra featuring Joby Burgess on bass drum. Also includes world premieres by Princeton composer Elliot Cole and Chicago composer Brian Baxter. Join CCO’s mailing list to be in-the-know on happenings prior to theconcert including a ‘NonClassical’ club night.

Don’t miss the North American premiere of Chen Yi’s Xian Shi for viola and orchestra, the first viola concerto written by a Chinese composer, featuring Michael Hall on viola. Also includes music by Pulitzer Prize Winner Zhou Long, Alexandra Gardner, and a world premiere by Chicago composer Randall West.
